About

 AmbassadorAroma

Two key theological concepts have greatly impacted my call to ministry in the past couple years.  The first is 2 Corinthians 2:15, “For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (NRSV).  This verse stuck out to me because something smells whether the smeller wants it to or not.  So what would it be like to ‘smell like Christ’ to both those who care about Jesus AND those who don’t?

The second is from 2 Corinthians 5: 20 which says, “So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God” (NRSV).  Here Christians are called ambassadors for Christ.

These two images–the aroma of Christ and the ambassador for Christ–come together to help describe how I understand my identity, my vocation and my purpose for being.

Ordained as a deacon in the ELCA, I seek to combine my strengths and training in faith formation, communication, early childhood education and leadership in ways that strengthen individuals and communities to claim and articulate their faith for the sake of the world.

In 2020 I transferred to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) where I serve as the Assistant to the Bishop in the MNO Synod.

In any recreational time I’m probably seeking out local coffee shops or other dining establishments, walking trails and paths and imagining being a nature photographer, hanging out with friends and their children, or binge-watching ridiculously cheesy movies and shows. My life would be complete if people are able to say of me, “she was relentlessly consistent in her appreciation of the social convention of hot beverages in all circumstances.”
